Shrine Circus Protest - UPDATED

Mar 13 2010 - 1:30pm

It's time to ramp up our protest against the Shrine Circus. This year the the Shriners are bringing in elephants, tigers, camels and an orangutan in their shameful show of animal exploitation. Michael Hackenberger, owner of the Bowmanville, Ontario Zoo will be bringing in the performing elephants. It is a well known fact that Michael Hackenburger beats his elephants, which apparently makes no difference to the Shriners whose only concern is their bottom line. In their own words "Proceeds from this event benefit the Al Shamal Shrine Centre's local projects and activities", meaning it does not go to the Shrine Hospitals for Children or any other charity, but rather is used for their own conventions, parties and administration. These animals suffer because the Shriners like to party. Please mark your calendars and come and support Voice for Animals protesting the use of animals in entertainment.
